In my school, here in Italy, I'd say there's pretty no-one that really cares about style. Most of the guys still wear kinda baggy denims (Carhartt, Volcom and Bastard, an Italian brand) and hoodies from the same brands. Or, if they have more money or just more lust to appear, they wear the same, but from Armani and Dolce and Gabbana. As for the shoes, most wear Air Max in basic colorways or, even worse, skate shoes like Etnies. This was what I wore when I was 13/14. They are 19, tho. The best you can find is someone with a simple chino, a RL shirt, and a North Face shell. That's it. What about your mates?

In my school 89% of the people wear Abercrombie and fitch and Hollister. Most of them buy from those stores because all the cool people buy from there which I guess is common in high school. Which I think is stupid and I am glad I dress the way I do. I am not a fan of a whole lot of writing or images on clothes except for the occasional band T-shirt.

I work in a bank, people dress plain. Nothing that stands out. I wouldn't call it a fashionable environment. The Senior Managers and VP's are always in suits, mostly women - So I'm not sure what brands they are. I remember my always rocked a ugly PRADA bag.

I work in IT. You can easily draw your own conclusion about how well-dressed most of my department is.

Of course, that's out of necessity. Lots of us dress well off the clock, we just don't want to be caught having to move equipment or run cables in nice clothing.

I work in a boutique post-production house so everyone here's pretty stylish.

not always a style that suits my aesthetic but stylish in any form beats no style any day in my book.

My university is pretty 'bohemian' so even if you wear A&F then you are considered dressing up.

I just graduated from an engineering college. The dressing standards there were horrible. Any sort of ratty, baggy, clothing passed. Lots of flip-flops, cargo shorts, and tees.

I could deal with their typical day to day wear, but when all the large firms come to interview and they try to dress up irks me to no end. I swear every student was wearing a BLACK suit a size too large with a loud colored dress shirt. And they all had every button done up on their jackets. I couldn't bear it, glad I wasn't interviewing that day.

at my work some of the women do dress pretty chic and fashionable. they know how to accessorize and look sharp, casual , and pretty up to date in style.

the men however, need alot of work . there are many guys who will pass as fashionable by standard tastes,
but not by sf streetwear tastes.
i think i am the only one or perhaps 1 or 2 in the other building.

nobody around here however wears 'douchebag' type wear or true religion , or yet i have seen so far.

I work in a science department at the university with a bunch of post-docs; the style around here is pretty abysmal both for the grad students and the admin staff. As for the rest of the school it's the typical baggy jeans/A&F/North Face, etc.

I agree with you so much. This is exactly how it is in my school, and I agree, I wear alot of Basic shirts such as AA but once in awhile I throw on a band shirt.

I work in IT for the government -- can you imagine?

How pathetic is it: when I am on consultations, I'm about 10-20 years younger than my co-workers and the people I meet with are my peers or younger. The fact I'm not a family man with a middle-age gut and that I pay any attention at all to how I dress apparently earned me a reputation among some clients as the 'cute web guy' -- even with my gut and before I became a regular SF reader/lurker and knew how to properly measure myself.

Best way to describe the collective fashion sense at my workplace: Driving-range chic. Or I should say shtick.

A whole lotta polos or Tommy Bahama-like shirts that are 2-3 sizes too big. Pleated Cotton Dockers. Those belts with the metal tips.

I actually do think a lot of them go golfing before they come to the office.

Engineering college...need I say more?

My biggest problem is dressing down any new style I get from SF. My new standards that aren't even very tight get labeled as "girl jeans". God know what would happen if I wore my cardigans around campus.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
