How would you describe a good value product proposition? I'm not talking about ebay or thrift store finds or sale items, but what would you say a brand/product has to do to be considered offering consumers a good value?

I was thinking about Borrelli being considered a good value, even at full retail. Kind of a strange thing to dimensionalize, but it fact, it is a good "value" even at $3K or whatever.

So how would you all describe a good value at full retail?

Compare its price to the other products that most closely match its "quality" (which might or might not include styling)..

Here are some "best values" that come immediately to mind.

    Shoes --
    Upper tier = Vass
    Middle tier = Alden

    Suits --
    Upper tier = Oxxford
    Middle tier = Cantarelli/Corneliani/Canali

    Shirts --
Upper tier = Truzzi (cheaper than Borrelli)
    Middle tier = Polo Philip
