How would one build a dark/edgy wardrobe around this leather jacket?

Greetings Styleforum, first time poster here and in need of advice. I am 26 year old male, 5'09", 145 lbs, starting to build a collection of cloths from scratch, with a particular look in mind. Until this point I never really cared how I looked or dressed, so I am a bit of noob when it comes to having fashion sense.

The particular look I want to build my wardrobe on is a sophisticated, dark/edgy look. Nothing too loud or out of control like punk; I guess what I am going for is something like a sharply dressed goth with a little attitude. (I know it doesn't make much sense but bear with me.)

The first piece of clothing I got for this collection is the leather jacket (image links posted below). It is from the Trish Summervillie Dragon Tattoo collection in collaboration with H&M. I'd like to style myself somewhat like Lisbeth Salander from the David Fincher adaption of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". I felt she had a uniquely, dark style without looking like a hot topic goth. Any tips and advice on where and what to look for would be greatly appreciated. I'd like suggestions on what cloths would compliment the jacket as well.

Also on a side note how could I determine the quality of the jacket? I have read that H&M isn't known for consistent quality. Supposedly the jacket is made of 100% lamb skin leather and it feels very soft and lightweight. I just don't know how I would go about determining if this is one of those jackets that could last a few decades. Pictures of the jacket in question are below.

    ugh "sophisticated dark edgy"

So, goth ninja + punk? The jacket seems probably ok, but those are pretty bad pictures. Good lamb can last, but it's rather fragile. Anyway, just get a pair of black jeans (3sixteen ST-200X maybe) and a pair of black boots. Maybe pick up a toj leather when they come back.

In the other pictures you posted, she's just wearing a black t and a black hoodie and some silver jewelry. These are pretty straightforward things.

Sorry for the bad pictures. The cell phone camera is pretty terrible. I just recently became aware of this "goth ninja" style you speak of. I have only seen cloths from the likes of Rick Owens and while I do find some of his stuff very cool looking it is very expensive. Any suggestions as to where to get affordable goth ninja like stuff?

I am just using her style as "inspiration". I won't be getting any piecing or anything of the like.

If this is the jacket you want -- and it sounds like it is -- then don't worry about the "quality" of it. If it's "very soft and lightweight" as well as being H&M-made, then in all honesty it probably isn't going to last you "a few decades" but that's no reason not to wear it happily for the full extent of its lifespan which should be a few years at a minimum.

I agree with you. I have had my heart set on this jacket for quit a while and even if the quality isn't top notch, (I still can't tell lol) I still think the design of the jacket is very unique and badass. With this jacket being the centerpiece of my new wardrobe, I would like to get cloths that compliment it and bring about it's full fashion potential.

If one jacket is the center of your wardrobe, you will always feel awfully limited when looking for stuff to revolve around/go with it. Plus, that's a unique jacket and people will realize you are wearing it too often.

I see your point. I would certainly mix up the outfits with another jacket however I was wondering what kinds of cloths would go well together with the Dragon Tattoo jacket specifically.

Skinny black jeans (there are a million brands), slim white vneck and black boots should be your go-to with that jacket.
