greetings,

what is the best way to wear black linen suit?

the jacket is light weight with little or no structure and the pants are flat front and traditional fit.

i have a cocktail party friday night so i was thinking of wearing it.

i was thinking a crisp white shirt and a skinny, black knit tie.

what is the best tie to wear with linen jacket? knit?

not sure what to do with shoes. black lace ups with no socks?

also, for everyday use, i was thinking i could pair the jacket with dark wash jeans and brown loafers?

please give me you thoughts for every day use and dressing it up !

thanks!

IMO a black jacket should be worn with blck shoes. You could try suede loafers, a knitted tie and a lightly patterned shirt.

plain knitted silk tie. in light green, gold...

As linen gives a rather relaxed impression, I'd go with something informal.

I'd wear the linen suit with a linen shirt and knit tie. Burgundy shoes could work as well as black, IMO.

Looks like suede venetian loafers, but it's hard to tell from the pic.

I would dump the tie unless it is that formal.

The you man to the right in blue trousers pictured here seems to be wearing braces which is unusual for one so young and at an informal function.

I wouldn't do black & white. Very predictable and from a distance you'll look like a cheeseball in a black suit. So I would go with a dark sea-gray linen shirt, no tie (hopefully you have a nice deep tan to set all this off, and maybe a dark blue/midnight suede driving moc w/no socks. Bordeaux/wine colored croc belt.

thanks as always for all the great tips and suggestions! i'll most likely go for something like the photo for friday night (maybe with a splash of color from a silk pocket square) but i have another 2 weeks or so to wear the suit until labor day!

How about the wide open shirt and the suede shoes?

If anyone else that Luca Rubinacci woud have worn such combo, he would have been slaughtered.

There've been a few royal blue pant posts in WAYWRN over the summer (and even the last couple days) ... I dont remember any bloodshed involved.
