How to do it? The anti-persperant/deodorant thingy gives out a smell of it's own, and it gets stronger if you sweat, even a little. So how to wear cologne with it? The smells would just mix. I don't quite get it.

And probably you have to wear different clothes (all of them) every day and take a daily shower if you're gonna do that, don't you?

I use "The Crystal" unscented roll-on deodorant, shower and change my shirt every day, and put a spritz of cologne on the front of my armpits. Usually the only scent I can detect is my cologne. I've asked trusted dance partners if I'm overdoing the cologne and been told it's only noticeable when they come close to me and "it's delightful".

That is even available in my country. A bit costly, but I can deal with it, as I don't like the smell of the one I'm using much. It smells... Cheap.

Just need something to sweat less.

When I worked at the Fragrance Foundation the directive was to wear the fragrance everywhere you want to be kissed. I think the problem here is dudes are slathering on too much deodorant/antiperspirant. One pass should do it. Then the fragrance should mix with your body chemistry [once the alcohol stage has worn off] and be the highlight of the dance.

As a side note, people should only be able to smell your fragrance when at a hugging distance. Not like the dudes reeking of Le Male aka the panty dropper. YMMV

Oh man, I can't stand people smelling from a meter away! Especially if it's the kind of smell that stays behind for long... Speaking of smells, I ought to create a new thread.

I use this:
http://www.oldspice.com/en-US/products/product/6/old-spice-classic-antiperspirant-original-stick/

Blends perfectly with Old Spice "Classic Scent" cologne (or "classic scent" aftershave), also seems to go perfect well with Banana Republic's "Slate" cologne.

Other colognes in my collection that don't clash;
  • Pinaud Clubman
  • Bay Rum aftershave/cologne (homemade via tweaked recipe form "Art of Manliness" )
  • Polo (original scent)
  • Fahrenheit

Because everyone’s natural smell is different, colognes and aftershaves will react differently to each individual. It is impossible to say that what works well for me will work well for others. I believe that a person should choose a fragrance that will subtly enhance their own natural scent, and only be detectable when someone is within hugging/kissing range.

If you cannot find a scented antiperspirant that doesn't clash with your cologne(s) of choice, then you could look into the unscented clinic antiperspirants.

I use Mitchum unscented deodorant. Doesn't smell like anything. No smell at all.
