    Hi there,

I have been doing a few cruises. There were formal nights which require me wearing formal wear. Although I am fond of bow tie and have a few of them, I simply can't do it. So I ended up using the pre-tied ones. I checked on the internet and get holds of the instruction of how to tie it with no great success. Would anyone have a foolproof method of doing it. I really want to do it right, as I have another crusie coming up soon in July. Much appreciated!

Well done. He accomplishes in one minute what some can't do in 5.

Tying a bow tie is pretty challenging compared to tying a necktie. I remember it took me at least 15-20 attempts until I got the hang of it.

The first part of the process is pretty easy, but it took me a while to get the hang of the last step (well, the last step before tightening the bow), where you push one, folded end through the "hole" at the back of the bow tie.

I remember standing in front of the bathroom mirror, trying again and again to get the hang of it, and my arms actually started to hurt because I'd been tying the damn bow tie so many times and had to hold up my arms while I was doing it!

However, once I finally got the hang of it, it suddenly seemed ridiculously easy and now I find it as easy to tie a bow tie as a conventional tie. I probably wear a bow tie once every couple of weeks, usually on a Friday.
