so thrifting this morning, I came across a very interesting pair of shoes that seemed to be made of either croc or gator skin.
They were made in Italy (Rome I think), and a kind of reddish brown. Nice subtle chisel toe (cap toe) and the soles were closed channel construction.
I could not tell if it was stamped leather or the real thing. They were cheap, and I figured I could brown them up with some elbow grease as I didnt like the red tone to them.
I decided to pass on them ($12.00), but hid them should I be armed with the information needed to determine if these were real or not. I would not normally be interested in shoes made of amphibian, but they had a nice shape and for 12 bones, what the heck?
Does anyone have a method for determining if leather is croc or gator?
