How to survive the summer in style?

Just wondering, what do you guys wear in summer?
In winter, it's easier to be more stylish, with all the layering, jackets and coats, whereas it's difficult in summer, when you're limited to two piece of clothes.

I tend to wear jeans and a casual RL button down shirt or a polo shirt, with sneakers. Is that good enough? I find it hard to be stylish in summer. How do you pull it off?

Jeans are usually a little warm for the summer. I just wear a lot of linen and light cotton. Linen sportcoat with cotton pants and shirt or a linen suit.

Seersucker! And linen, and poplin.

The best strategy is to move to San Francisco, wear wool, and enjoy the spectacle of tourists in August shivering in their shorts and t-shirts as the afternoon temperatures drop into the low 50's F.

It's a very complex and interesting question. I think the goal is avoiding looking (i) too college studenty (preppy or amjack), (ii) too business casual, and (iii) too senior-citizen-at-a-resort. Avoiding all three at once is not a simple proposition.

I usually go with a ribbon belt, tods loafers or navy blue boat shoes, light colored chinos or medium-to-light blue jeans, and a shirt with gingham checks or fairly vivid stripes on white (in non-amjack colors).

In my experience, people in LA really understand how to pull this off. Here in NYC, people are hopeless. I will be monitoring this thread to hear what others think.

That's interesting. I also like Tods loafers. But they're kinda expensive. 400+
I will try them on at Tods store and then order them online.

Summer you have more colour choices. Or at least brighter colours.

There are lighter weight jeans for summer. There are summer weight and material jackets.

Obviously at some point it gets so hot that everything goes out the window. But there are times in the winter it's so cold you give up to.
