What do you look for when looking for a quality suit of jacket?

Quite alot comes to mind-Canvassing rather than fusing would be the obvious one. You can also check button holes to see how they are constructed. Too much to mention really!

Three key for me:

1. Pinch test to tell if canvassed
2. Composition and quality of material (including buttons)
3. Lapels - stitching, rolled, etc ...

Jefferyd's blog is a fantastic resource for this.

A thing I've learned from the above blog and personal experience is that fusing technology has come a long way. While it is still a tier below canvassed garments, I personally don't think from a functional perspective fused suits automatically = junk.

Aside from the fused vs canvassed seperation, I'm no expert at understanding suit construction quality, so I tend to judge mainly based on fit and fabric.
