I actually find the act of ripping the gills off of a living soft shell crab and then cutting its face off to be much more disturbing. Disturbing in a good way, of course.

Not to mention it can sometimes be scary. We'd get those crabs delivered and they would be feisty as all get out. Granted, those were just regular crabs not soft shell. But if they got delivered and we didn't cook them immediately, sometimes they would beat the hell out of each other.
35 a day, huh? How many green beans tied with chive sets did you do each day?

A lot, asshole. One of these days I will tie green beans with chives and eat them. I also did asparagus with chives. I don't think I have ever cooked a hard shelled crab. If I eat them, I just buy the meat or do it at some Chinese restaurant. Not actually a huge fan of hard shell crab.

I mastered the art of the spiky lemon this past week. I then used that skill, coupled with my oyster napkin skill, to woo my girlfriend with a beautiful oyster presentation. I will have to give these chives a try.

What did she think of the spiky lemons? I think it is a nice presentation, even today, when you need to serve lemon on the side of something.

She was confused as to why I kept pointing them out.
When I told her that I learned about that method of cutting them from you, she told me that I had an unhealthy infatuation with another man.

She did end up admitting that she liked it though.

Did you have the munchies from other Mendocino activities?
6 1/2 crabs... wow. That's like 2+ lbs of meat, assuming they were moderately sized.

Mmmmm, so true. And after growing up in SF and then working in DC and trying my share of blues, I still have to go with the Dungeness. Old Bay seasoning can go into the crapper.

Way to highjack this threak, F***ers.

BTW, foodguy, did you not get sick after eating all those crabs? I ate a shitload of crabs one Thanksgiving, with butter, and was sick as hell the next day.

Foodguy is a man. And you're, well, the kind of guy who would get sick after eating a lot of crabs.
