Hi,

any of you ever had to ship something from the EU to the US, or received such parcels?
Which service would you use ?
how about customs ?

Or am I lucky and is there somebody flying to the USA from Hungary or Vienna in the near future?

I would use regular air mail. Generally takes less than a week for Royal Mail to get stuff to the US.

And they are much less likely to get charged customs unlike couriers who not only stick you for customs, but also a handling fee.

Sent a bunch of stuff using USPS. Only problem I ever had was shipping to Italy, which has crazy customs laws.

If the person you're shipping to is a friend and you're just shipping one or two items for personal consumption, you can tick "gift" on the form and there won't be any customs fees levied.

Try to avoid understating the value (ie. claiming a $1000 suit is worth $1) as you'll be stuffed if you need to claim insurance (eg. if the item goes missing or gets damaged).
