I have received a few watches as gifts that are in the 200k+ range. Including a Patek Philippe celestial and a limited edition Bovet. As well as a couple of 40k pieces.

What would be the best place or way to sell them?

Direct through ebay? does anyone buy anything in that price range on it?

Specialized internet auction sites? Any examples?

Dealers and watch shops? (not many around here but would be open to any anywhere in the world if theyre good enough at it)

I vote 3.

Send them over to me and I'll sell them for you. Won't even take a commission.

I'm going with 1.

How many people who aren't heads of state have been given $200,000 gifts? And of those who wouldn't have the contacts to sell them without joining an innapropriate website?

Obvious "real answer" is a combination of 1, 2 and troll.

The best way to sell a very expensive watch is to start with a very, very expensive watch.

Antiquorum is the only answer. You might check interest on the Timezone Showcase.

Can you send me pictures of the Bovet? Where are you located?

If you want to go about selling them via auctions, theres christies who does watch sales, usually in Asia, as well as Antiquorum (as mentioned), and also that new auction house Sr. Patrizzi started (founder of antiquorum).

I met the gentleman who bought Bovet and some other companies, very passionate guy. Bovet makes some very nice watches.

The only people I know who get those kind of watches as gifts are russian/chinese politicians...

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
