Hi everybody, newbie here!

As the title says, I need some help with this "buttoned to the top" look. I saw some cool pics of guys doing this and I think it can look pretty cool with some casual shirts ...but I guess a photo model can wear almost anything without looking weird and so I'm a bit sceptical...I myself have a bunch of denims and plaid shirts and maybe a military type shirt with epaulets I would like to try this with. Most of them have snaps but some have normal buttons, too...so I want this for a cool casual style, not formal. What should I take care of? Does this work with certain kinds of collars better than with others? Is it better to tuck the shirt or wear it untucked? The shirts I think of are extremely casual so I would like this to be a smart contrast. Any ideas how to pull this off? Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

Jonny Lee Miller, who plays Sherlock Holmes in Elementary, dresses like this often in the show. You can google his pictures from the show and see all the different collars he wears in it. I think he looks good in it. Then again, he was Angelina Jolie's first husband, so maybe you do have to be fit and good looking to make the look works.

Whether or not you can “rock” this look is less about the shirt than you. It’s kind of an affected style that recalls art-school punk-rock singers of the late 70s—a rebellion, if you will, against the black leather and ripped jeans of “townie” rockers like the Ramones. (I was there, at CBGBs, so consider this original research.) It’s not very sprezzy by definition, and doesn’t fit most definitions of sexy. But if you like it and can wear it with confidence, then by all means do so.
