How to restore that crisp feel to jeans?

I have a pair of Wings + Horn jeans that have worn in over the past few weeks, and naturally lost that crispness that new over-dyed denim has. Is there any product out there anyone can recommend to help keep them stiff? I liked the way they stacked at the ankles before, but they've lost that now...
Similarly, I have a pair of black Dior jeans that have some sort of acid treatment on them to make them a dark grey shade. I want to wash them to shrink them a bit, but want to keep them with a stiffer feel. As they are Diors and longer in the leg, they have that great crumpled look that will deteriorate when the denim softens.
I've tried Easy-On spray Speed Starch (without the iron) on the unwashed Dior's and it works, but doesn't last.

Any ideas? Someone recommended Samurai Soap, but I doubt that will work, and don't want to order it in to find it doesn't help.

Thanks!

I've only ever heard of people using starch to restore the stiff feel to their jeans. Perhaps you should try a different brand/type of starch?

the next time you boil potatoes, pull the potatoes out and save the water... then put your jeans in the water let em soak for a while like you would during a hot soak, then air dry them.

What kind of scent does that leave behind?

I'm going to try the commercial starch route. Anyone recommend a brand they've used with success before? I'm assuming its a liquid, yeah? Any issues with leaving a white residue on the clothing? I have only used the spray Speed Starch before. Never the kind you soak your clothes in / throw in the wash (which I think also requires an ironing)...
