My cognac leather shoes were soaked with rain about a few months ago. I tried to put some shoe wax on but on the places where it was wet the shoes become darker. Any suggestions how to fix this?

A picture might help. You could be SOL, but on the other hand, you could get the entire shoe to a more uniform color using she oils and conditioners and a lot of elbow grease.
