I don't know how, but somehow I got some chewing gum on one of my good colored shirts. It's a very tiny spot (maybe 1/4 inch). Any idea how to remove it carefully?

I've used warm vinegar (microwave) with very good results. Use a toothbrush or old rag and rub... it comes right off.

I've heard about freezing it too.

If freezing doesn't work try GooGone. I sat on a huge wad of gum on the bus and in ten minutes the Googone got it all off with no marks or discoloration.

Put the shirt over night in the deep freeze, won't harm the fabric, but the gum will become stone-hard and can be easily removed.

I used the googone on one of my light grey MTM suits and there was no discoloration.

Lighter fluid works great. I've never seen it discolor, but use it on an inconspicuous place first.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I wanted to share my experience.

I got gum on my sleeve last night and didn't notice. It then got on the lining of my jacket as well. Warm vinegar and a toothbrush smells terrible, but works amazingly well.

you have more than one option

here are 7
smile.gif
:

1. put it in the freezer untill the gum is frozen, then just pull it off

2. rub gum with ice cubes until frozen. Then proceed to pull it off

3. get a piece of paper and a hot iron, lay clothing out on the piece of paper and iron it. The grease in the gum will make it melt into the paper

4. rub shortening on the spot with gum, the oil helps remove it

5. rub peanut butter on the spot, the oil helps with removal

6. spray on WD40...ha ha...got this from a friend..he says it works like a charm...i personally would never try it

7. use baby oil or cooking oil to help break down and loosen the gum

No matter which you use I would suggest laundering it afterwards

Option 8
Cut off the part with the gum and chew it. Use whats left of shirt as rags. recycle and save the earth.
