How to protect a sport coat collar from neck stain

Hello,

How do you protect a dark sport coat collar from sweat stain? I have a blue linen jacket and a dark corduroy, and I live in a warm climate, and so often wear a light collarless henley shirt under my jacket.

I had a previous grey sport coat and after wearing for a while the collar in contact with my neck developed a deep faded white line.

I want to avoid this. Any ideas?

Actually with my grey sport coat I did wear a collared shirt every time, and the jacket still has a deep faded white line at the neckline.

Any practical solutions?

A tailor once mentioned sewing some type of fabric over the jacket collar in the neckline area. Any thoughts?
