With all the discussion of matching - and I'm not even addressing the leather jacket match issue here, that's a whole hide of a different color - I got confused and frustrated and now find that I haven't been able to wear more than one of the three at any given time....

You're overthinking it.

Tape or staple a $100 bill to your forehead.

Nobody will care then that your watch strap is not an exact match in color and material to the vamp of your shoe, or the handle of your brief case.

It doesn't matter if it's not the same shade of brown. Matching is fine, not matching is just OK.

You were close here if the watch strap was the color of the belt. Conversely, if the belt strap was similar to the watch strap here:

This. I like to have items similar in color but if they are not, then so be it.

I confess - my meds need adjustment and I'd just read a bunch of agonizing over matching this n' that and will the selvedge leak on a roll up, etc etc...

So, I just bought the watch strap that turned out to be a near perfect match to a belt I had. I thought the band was going to be a much darker brown and when I tried it and belt together - TOO MATCHY!

Really, I adhere to the general color scheme philosophy - but, having everything match is generally too contrived, IMO.

Didn't mean to offend anyone - just some good natured trolling.

And I agree w/Bris' analysis.

I think it doesn't matter whether no one else cares, as long as the OP jhcam8 cares. Do you guys were certain clothes and combinations purely for others sake, or for your own sake? I don't care if no one else sees it, but today I was delighted that my suede C&J belt made a perfect match both with my AS suede shoes and the little polo horse on my R.L. Oxford shirt.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
