In general, I think linen for summer lounge suits for city wear has had its day. It was probably a godsend in days when the lightest wool was 14 Oz weight but here is one instance when things have moved on. We now have frescos and tropical wools. Even mohair can be woven much lighter than before. All of these fibres are much more crease resistant.

That leaves linen for those who enjoy its rumpled charms. To me, that renders it a more informal cloth and something to be enjoyed for that. In an age when lounge suits in a casual situation are considered overdressing by some, the rumpled look aids in giving it a relaxed air.

I don't mind the wrinkles after a day dressed in linen. I wear linen for business casual or social events but not when business or more formal dress is requiredl
