When going sockless what do you do to make sure your shoes dont become nasty and stinky. Foot powder? Spray after wearing? Please advise.

What kind of shoes? The only shoes I go sockless in are sandals and converse. And the converse I don't really go sockless. I use the socks that come up to your ankle bone that nobody can see.

I go sockless in leather driving mocs. Use cedar shoe trees and do not wear two days in a row. Never use foot powder.

    another thread about this?!?! :plain:

Well I wear loafer socks, I purchased some from j.crew and I just recently purchased a pair of merino wool loafer socks from Smart Wool and they work. You can barely see the socks so its not a big deal for me. You must remember that if you go sock less you either have to have enough shoes in the arsenal to wear different pairs every day, or pretty much you should wear socks. One of my friends does not wear socks with her boat shoes but she says that her feet dont smell, maybe because she is a girl but that is not the case for me.

I tried the powder and I did not like it, created gunk in the shoes.

I only go sockless on shoes I can easily wash. For leather shoes on hot days I use loafer/invisible socks.

I also use this for my sneakers

It is an ultraviolet shoetree. Seems to work well. I don't use it on leather shoes because I am not sure how the heat from the bulb will affect leather shoes.

Powder creating gunk? Are you guys pouring it in? Why not just dust your feet?

I never wear socks. I fear even when the leaves are brown and wet pavement abounds, you can still see my ankle as I step. I generally don't have sweaty or smelly feet, even in the stickiest of weather, so my maintenance is generally limited. However, I will attest to the rules of: cedar shoe trees and never wear the shoes two days in a row (a la westinghouse).

Also, if things are getting especially tricky, I'd suggest looking into Odor Eaters inserts. They are like $10 for a pack of 4 and they can last for months even with regular wear.

the no-socks thing is just a fashion trend and it'll end soon enough, and then so will these threads.

Might be a "trend" in LA, but I was raised in boat shoes and no socks. Shit is in my blood.

Cedar shoe trees. My boat shoes reeked and lost shape after a year wearing sockless. So I started using putting a shoe tree in them after wearing. Now, they smell neutral and have shape.

I too was raised sockless. A Southern thing I guess. I'll wear socks if I am working out, going to a funeral or attending a formal business meeting/event. Otherwise, it is sockless. I never seem to have too many problems, even in the summer. Occasionally I will sprinkle Gold Bond on my feet, but it isn't something I do on a regular basis. I just like the way it feels after a shower. Of course cedar shoe trees.

I have pairs of shoes that I wear multiple days in a row without problems.

I find that my feet sweat a good deal more if I am wearing socks.

You should definitely see a doctor about that.

With a big enough shoe rotation, I never worry about shoes going stinky from being sockless.

It must be tough having just one or two pairs of shoes though. Good luck bro'
