How to fix squeaky shoes

Have you guys seen the Seinfeld episode where George buys a new suit only to find the pants "whoosh" when he walks?

I bought some great high end Santoni shoes but have found the heels squeak whenever I walk. I'm not sure what the cause is--the insole or the actual heel itself. Just pressing on the insole or heel with my hand doesn't produce the squeak--it only occurs with my full body weight when walking...but its pretty loud!

Any thoughts on the cause or cure? I don't think wd40 is the solution here.

It's probably a loose nail under the insole. If you peel up the insole you may see a few nailheads. You can either take it in or do it yourself - just smack those in harder with a nailset or punch type object. I have fixed this on a couple of shoes. No big deal. Glue the insole back in with contact cement from the shoe repair shop.

Were you ever able to find a solution? I bought some Santoni's in 2013 and for probably 6 months now have been trying to figure out the squeak. It happens loudly on hard surfaces, and on industrial carpet is less noticeable but it is still there and VERY obnoxious! Didn't pay that kind of money for squeaky but nice looking shoes.

Thanks,
Chris
