So looking through many different threads I see people critiquing other peoples pictures with comments like "that t shirt is too short" or "that looks too small"

I was wondering what the rules are to a perfect fit of t shirts cardigans jumpers etc.

I can find a wealth of information on button up shirts and jeans but nothing on other clothes.

So what are the rules?

Hopefully we can fashion a difinitive guide and make it a sticky maybe?

thanks in advance

You'll find more rules over in the Classic Menswear forum (which is mostly about suits) but on this side of the forum, there are very few, if any, hard fast rules (within reason, that is. For instance, someone with a 42" chest probably shouldn't be wearing size XS in anything).

Some people like their t-shirts relaxed, some people like them fitted, but theres no objectively 'right' fit for a shirt. Or jeans, or jackets for that matter.

You just have to learn to use your eye more to look at the silhouette of someones outfit. sometimes someone will say another persons jacket looks too tight because the tightness may not go with the rest of what they're wearing. Or maybe someone's jacket will look too loose because they bought something that was meant to be worn tight (for example a rick owens leather jacket) and they sized up.
