Fwiw I think those are both good looks. By sheer coincidence, here I am in a grey linen suit and white canvas trainers, just a couple of weeks ago (shirt is a linen jersey polo):

(That cafe is in the centre of Amsterdam, and tbh I think I stood out a bit. Maybe not too much. Not sure.)

I dig that fit. Also looks natural in that environment.

Here's another sneaker fit, although not designed to blend into the environment. This is Greg James in a yellow gabardine Edward Sexton suit. T-shirt by Hemen Biarritz; sneakers by Converse.

A similar suit Sexton cut for Tommy Nutter/ Mick Jagger

Which, radicaldog's fit or the yellow suit? Love both.

Another famous yellow suit

Radicaldogs fit is fine. I mean the yellow suit thing. I tought you were very conservative in terms of CM outfits. How does a yellow suit fit into that. Doesn't matter if it's cut by Edward Sexton or whichever tailor. Looks frankly goofy.

Edit: I have to add that I assume that these people wore the yellow suit for that day in question then they proceded to throw it away.

I think most people on here should dress conservatively because they'd look better for it. But I don't mind wild suits.

Photo of Mick on the same day. The story behind the photo is sad; will save for a different day.

Not yellow, but Jimi Hendrix in a velvet suit.

If I were Jagger or Bowie at the peak of their powers I’d totally wear those suits.

Here is me in a less successful attempt, in Naples a few years ago. I promise you the yellow linen is much more faded and muted than it looks in the photo. And I wasn’t wearing a tie that morning — but then I bough that one from Capelli and couldn’t resist putting it on. I think for a holiday fit this would be OK sans tie. The thing peeking out of my breast pocket is just my glasses case, not a square.

Basically if you're a rich and famous rockstar, you can pull off the wild suits. That's what I'm gathering. If you're a normal guy, it'll probably look weird on you.
It's expected on rock stars apart from maybe grungy, Metal-types who have their own uniform. As much as an Edward Sexton white suit would seem cool to me there have been zero times in my life so far where I could have worn it.

Entertainers are expected to entertain and be in the spotlight so they can dress that way. Kinda cool but not for the majority of us.

I mean, you know. The usual caveats -- be rich, famous, super handsome. But there have also been some really wild dressers here in the past who aren't rockstars. Barims, Labelking, etc.

I also think that sun-faded yellow suit above works well.

Mark in a pink jacket:

Yeah, it looks fine, more khaki to me than yellow. The canary yellow suit Jagger wore would be hard for most to pull off I think.

The Colin Firth character, Bill Haydon (loosely based on the real life Kim Philby), the “Tailor” in the recent film “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy”, is a posh Oxbridge M16 officer who wears nicely tailored clothing with desert boots. The character is taken from the John le Carre novels.
Please make more le Carré references. And someone talk about Jerry Westerby’s buckskin boots.

Overall, I think this works pretty well. I have a personal dislike of all-white trainers/sneakers (the go-to igent recommendation) so would prefer a different colour (or lighter desert boots as you suggested).
