Came across this article this morning, content from an interview with the president of Hugo Boss Canada - link

Some decent advice - first suit should be navy, moving on to charcoal etc. Other comments I found rather amusing. For example his suggestion to "Avoid three-button suits as they are starting to look dated" and instead look for a narrow lapel with flat front, uncuffed trousers are no doubt self serving. I'm flashing forward a few years when he's quoted that people should be avoiding narrow lapels ...

And how does he come up with "You can wear blue or checked shirts during the day, but make sure you only wear white for evening occasions"?? Is this a rule I'm unfamiliar with? Ok if we're talking black tie but otherwise?

He does at least emphasize that fit is important ... somewhat ironic for me as Boss seems to never fit me well.

He also follows that with "so spend time with a good tailor"...I think he does realise that most OTR will not fit most people without alteration...

The "white after 7" rule has been around forever. It's a bit dated, but I tend to follow it for more formal occasions like a wedding.

I certainly agree for a formal occasion like a wedding, but as a blanket rule it does seem quite dated.
