I don't know why but I've always envied particularly muscular men who are also veiny freaks. Is it low bodyfat that will make me more vascular (in which case should I do cardio?) or is it just increasing muscle mass that will do it?

I think that genetically I could be quite lucky in this respect because I have very veiny hands and feet.

Like most of these things, genetics have a role. But low body fat certainly helps.

i used to think vascularity was nasty -- but Ive since dropped a few % of bf and the veins are ripping out and I kinda dig it.

So yes, you need to lose fat and build muscle. For me, losing fat was waaaay more effective than building muscle.

true. back in the day, building muscle wasnt what got me vascular. doing alot of cardio, watching my diet, swimming, was what got me ripped up/ vascular.

    Genes play a big role.

Otherwise is have a fair amount of muscle packed on your frame with little body fat.

It´s ugly. That´s why Stallone tattooed his shoulders, to hide his extreme and ugly vascularization .

having water hoses under my skin is not attractive, but if your at the gym and got some pump going on its cool.

I thought it was gross until I saw the vein going up my bicep start to pop out and heard the ladies say...

not necessarily cardio, just dieting to lose body fat.

also i believe bodybuilders deliberately dehydrate themselves before a show, as it brings out the vasculature more.

    I laughed my ass off.

I have a good amount of muscle from the various sports I play, but I wouldn't call myself muscular by any means. I have much more vascular arms than most, which my girlfriend says is disgusting. I kinda like it, though. Doctors and nurses never have trouble finding the vein to stick it in. [IMG]

Absolutely unnecessary. I'm still holding onto the hope that women care more about a man's character then how much his veins show.

My GF is into the level of vascularity I currently have, although I am not sure if she will be into the level of vascularity I will have next year. She's a nurse.
