1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Do you think about where your goods came from? Are they made from recycled materials, does the plant recycle waste, are they shipped half way around the world? If you learned Breitling (for example) invested in solar power at their facility, would you purchase from them over Rolex?
Would you know where to access this type of sustainability information about a brand if you were interested?

I think most SF members are thinking about a different type of sustainability or environmental consciousness. I personally am into craft and materials, so although this favours a renewable resource [wool] and ethical labour [my local tailor] its an entirely different slant. Having an organic tailor/watch or shoe isn't so much important to me as 'is it any good?'

I prefer to sleep under comforters lined with the feathers of bald eagles and spotted owls.

I am just curious what people have to say. I try to buy Wool sweaters made in neighboring VT (ibex), hickey suits and New Balance sneakers made in the USA but I have my share of goods that aren't so green. Just bought a bike from China for example. Wondering if consumers think about origin, materials, practices, etc.
