How should a dress shirt fit

hard to give a good answer without seeing a photo.
a tighter collar will sit higher.
are you wearing ties?
what brand of shirt do you usually wear.

softer lining will sti lower
but some RTW brands the collars can be pressed outwards, rather then having the band sit upward.
This is for wearing ties yes, even though a tall OCBD with longer collar points for non tie outfits is also in question.
ATM I wear random mall quality to bad fashion quality shirts, but my interest is in regards to future shirts. As the shirts I currently have all have this problem I would very much like to avoid it on future shirts.
