Here's my Alden, 28 years old.
I wiped out the kind of glossy lacquer they had from the fabric. I like them much more as they are now and don't care too much about the cobbler-induced damage to the welt ...
Different lighting pull out different shades from the cordovan.

I question this poll as the oldest shoes I have are a pair of black cap toes that I don't use as often (I got them about 9-10 years ago) I clean them from time to time, I nourrish them as well but, they are not part of my rotation.

My question is, are they still in good shape because I don't wear them or because the quality is top notch? I am surprised when people can still find NOS shoes dated from the 70s...
Questions aside, It is nice to see well maintained shoes.

I've actually purchased NOS shoes from the '60s. My oldest pair in active use are Florsheim shortwing balmorals made in 1957. Beautiful shoe. It was near-NOS when I bought it. I wear them at least once a month.

I don't remember if these are my oldest shoes still in use - by sure they're old.
Alden in #8 cordovan I bought in the mid-1980's.
Last year I finally stripped them of that ugly plasticky finish they were covered in and now I really like their discreet glow.

EDIT: I realize now I've already posted these shoes. Oops ...
