I understand that it can help you freshen them up. But let's be real, I have never done this yet. Not even once.

In all of my years wearing fine shoes and using trees, I've never done it. NEVER. NOT once.

I did it once and did not notice any appreciable, lasting difference, so haven't bothered since.

Never. I can't see it accomplishing much more than making a mess of my apartment.

This is the first time I'd ever known I was supposed to. Makes sense I guess, assuming they're cedar, to release the fragrance, etc.

    Perhaps I'll try it out.

I didn't realize I was "supposed" to sand them. I'm not going to bother with it.

If you've got cedar trees, sanding them can bring back a bit of the cedar scent which, being volatile, will wear off after a few months anyhow. I can't think of any reasonably sound argument for the necessity of sanding cedar trees apart from liking the smell of cedar.

And if you like the smell of cedar that much, you can buy cedar oil at a home goods store (Bed Bath and Beyond, for instance).

You seem to be forgetting one reason that they might recommend doing it: If you sand them enough they will get too small and you'll have to buy new shoe trees. [IMG]

I sand them right before polishing, about twice a year.

At first I thought Sand Your Shoe-Tree was a euphamism for something else [IMG]

but no...didn't realise I was supposed to, but don't think I will either...they're worth more than my shoes [IMG]
