How often do you actually pray?

I noticed in the "my mother just offed herself" thread, that a lot of people responded by saying "you are in my prayers," and that got me to wondering: how often do people actually pray? Is that just something people say, or do they actually pray every day and say stuff like "I pray for soandso and his family..."?

I don't say it and I don't pray. I think it's just something people say.

I am sure your parents pray, "Dear Lord, please have someone marry our loser son and take him off our hands. I am not a follower of any specific belief other then my own special "do the right thing" moto so I have little insight. Yet I was left with the impression that true believers of the main N.A. type beliefs prayed nightly before bed.

I wouldn't think that you would ask for specific favors from your spiritual leader but a general "peace on earth and save the whales" should/would cover all the bases.

^^^you mean like, "Lord, deliver that Ferrari to me next week plz - I have a high school reunion coming up."

I can count on one hand the number of times I've told someone I'd pray for them - pretty well all of them serious issues for other people. I've followed through each time.

I always thought that proper Christian form was to recite the Lord's prayer and leave it at that.

Morning and night. Lunchtime Angelus if I remember. Mostly praying for forgiveness and for the intention of others.

i pray daily. formerly at night, but throughout the day i informerly just 'pray', talk/commune with God always. whatever is on my mind, thanking Him, leaving any worries to Him, praying for others, my relationship with others, it's hard, to break down my ego to be the first to try to love others that are strangers and just people you deal with daily at work or in the streets, but i leave it to Him to strengthen me

ehhh, proper Catholic form used to include masses in Latin only, and meat- free Fridays year-round, and fasting before church. That all has gone by the wayside. And the more fervent Catholics will pray for just about any cause that presents itself. But I digress here.
