How loose or tight do you wear your belt? With jeans vs other pants? How many fingers should you be able to fit under it without “tucking in” your belly?

Same question for the waist of the actual pants.

I wear a 32 waist, so I wear a 34 belt.

I didn't arrive at 32 by shoving my hand in my pants or whatever. That's just the the size of pants that fits. Maybe this is a question for heavier guys...

I feel like I’m between pants sizes and wondering whether to size up from my 29 waist/ 30 belt to a 30 waist and 32 belt. I’m trying to decide when to draw the line and upgrade everything.

I think a belt fits well if you’re using the middle hole or the hole to the right of the middle. Belt tightness is subjective. It depends on where you want to wear your pants and the rise of the pants.

What An Acute Style said.

Also i would say that length wise, a belt should not go much further than the first loop. It doesn't look good when it's so long that it's just short of the second loop, flapping about as you walk.

So how tight should the belt feel when it is at the center hole?

I’ve always worn my belt at the center hole but it feels tighter than it used to, so I’ve started to move down to the next hole. I guess I might be a little in denial that I need to size up...

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
