How much should I expect to pay for a good tuxedo?

I'm planning on buying a tuxedo very soon, but before I hit the shops, I'd like some idea of how much I can expect to spend. There isn't really a budget, but I'd rather not spend ten grand.

I'm going to need everything from head to toe, so I'd like some idea of total cost.

I'd like something classic, black, peak lapel or shawl collar, single-breasted. I haven't decided on braces or cummerbund.

I haven't decided if I'll buy OTR or MTM, although I'm leaning towards the latter.

It doesn't hurt to check out eBay. I just picked up a sweet Zegna that fits like a dream and cost $69.
