How much shoe crease do you tolerate?

Ok.. it's painful .. but here goes .. pic of my stowie .. As you all know, Stowie has soft leather. http://img205.imageshack.us/my.php?i...9114821yk2.jpg The pic is small but you can see the huge crease. I usually put extra insole when wearing Stowie, but on that day when I was taking the photo, I wore the shoes without insole. If I wear them with insole, the crease doesn't look as bad. That's why I am staying away from plain toe or whole cut shoes. I also have CJ bench grade plain toe shoes .. The leather is bit hard and they crease like mother f**ker too.

I think diorshoe and kitonbrioni (and others) have it right: Some shoe makers use better quality leather. If we compare two classic shoes from Allen Edmonds and Lobb (as diorshoe and kitonbrioni comment on), the difference is clear:

Cap toe AE Park Avenue:

which shows somewhat deeper creasing than the whole cut plain toe Lobb Jeremyn II:

Both do crease, but the leather on the Lobb seems a bit more substantial, at least to my feel, than the Allen Edmonds (which the original poster complained about). In my opinion, there is a leather difference, both in feel and in wear.

I meant that the leather on the Lobb seems a bit thicker and more solid (to clarify).

I'd hope so as they cost 4x as much.

Mine are kind of hit or miss, JL Hallaton minimal or no crease, Franceschetti captoes slight crease, Campanile wingtip oxfords major crease, Vass London major crease, AE Chesters almost no crease at all, Santoni Brenden Oxfords above average crease, Ferragamo test loafer above average crease, C&J Weymouth minimal crease, RLPL Grants minimal crease. The AE Chesters, the least expensive of the lot, have almost no crease, almost on par with my JL's.

Comments reflect:

1) fit
2) better leather
3) snug fitting shoe trees

Is it fair to conclude that bespoke shoes crease least?

Anyway, my RLPLs with the sleek trees seem to crease least.

I have some high-end Italian shoes that have rather noticeable creases. Perhaps it was intentional as it enhances the antiqued effect of the whole thing.
