How much is a burberry suit worth?

The local burberry store is having a sale on their suits and I have found a nice cotton suit in khaki in my size, with a ticket pocket (a style cue I like, but lack ownership of). It is $500 after the sale, but they are charging for alterations (I'd imagine $30-50).

I don't have a summer suit, but I don't know if burberry is worth the $550 or so.

Or should I just wait until my trip to Hong Kong and have one tailored, missing this summer season?

I will be heading to HK in the fall.

Tentatively planning to stay at the Kimberley Hotel for 5 nights, although any other recommedations would be welcome.

Or should i try to extend my trip, so that I can have a suit made and have time for a fitting before returning stateside?

***edit*** Looks like Chan will be in NYC while I am there. Might have to pay him a visit.

I was in the Saks outlet in Sawgrass, FL this week (you can find my other thread about the great bargain I got at Last Call there) and they had some khaki suits (I think they were their house brand) for $109. You could always call, but even with tailoring, it would be less than $200. As long as you liked the pieces separetely, no great loss as long as one ends up fitting perfectly.

Burberry wool suits (hickey freeman made in usa versions) very frequently sell for 400-500 at Barney's outlets, Syms, and other discounters. I think these are a decent value for a conservative cut wool suit.

Given that cotton is a much cheaper fabric, 500 seems high for a Burberry cottom suit. The Brooks poplins are much cheaper and cut similarly.

I agree with this. Burberry wool suits are a regular feature for $400-500 at Saks Off Fifth and are a decent value. They have enough of them that I would guess even a wardrobe staple like solid navy can be had for much less during a sale. Since the cut doesn't flatter me, they've become invisible to me, so I don't recall the exact price during their recent sale.

Macy's has the Burberry suit in the link below for $560 after my discount coupon.

Any opinions on the quality of their current line? Is this a good deal? If anyone knows of similar quality/price suits on sale your help is appreciated as streetwear is really more up my alley.

Cheers!

It's worth somewhere between what you're willing to pay for it and what they're willing to sell it for
