    $20-$30 a day. I appreciate good service.

    Big timer!

I am a generous person, but I feel like Mr. Pink on this. I used to travel constantly for work but I still never tipped maids. Where does the tipping fucking end already?

    Cheap bastard!

I average about $5/day ... depends on the venue too. I stay in hotels in excess of 175 nights a year and my company is cool w/tips for service personnel.

    $3 a night
$10 if the room is in a real mess

OT-I ask the linen to be changed every day. Even the better hotels will only change the sheets every 3 days or upon request. At home I change the pillow case every night and sheets every other day, so if I'm paying someone I want it to be better.

If I'm expensing tips, $5 per day. If it's my own nickel, $2-$3. Also, $1-2 per day for the valet guys, and sometimes $20 for the concierge if I used their services for hard to get reservations, tickets, etc.

    +1.

$3-5 a day. But then again, I never pay full rack price for a room.

Just the loose change I have but then I dont travel to the US where tipping culture is much more prevalent. Of course in case of a real mess, as it was when my son was ill in our hotel in Cairo, 10-20 USD per cleaning

Unfortunately, I'm not reimbursed for maid service and most other tips when on business trips. It's pretty much limited to cabs and restaurants. I do, however, leave the tips with my own dime. Whenever service is provided I try to tip.

    $5/day

+1, but it depends where I'm staying. A quality Marriott gets $5 a day. I just came back from the Cove where I did $10 a day. Its hard work and I'm filthy rich!

A couple of bucks on or by the pillow. To be candid, I've never ever noticed that this has made any difference at all in the quality of service during a stay. It is just something that you do to be respectful to hard working service staff.

But if I ask for things when I arrive, I usually tip a few bucks upon delivery. I often ask for additional hangers, towels, etc.

Mega dittos. (I got that from Rush, along with an unexplainable urge to shit all over the less fortunate.) Most of the posters here are just trying to come across as free-wheeling swells. I leave zip, unless I pee in the sink which I often do and then it's maybe only 25-cents.

Usually a couple bucks for each day I stayed. Usually leave it the day I checkout.
