Not Discovery, but this article says that the body absorbs about 4 glasses of water just from food, and a normal person probably only needs a little more liquid water to stay hydrated. http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/8glasses.asp
Doctors from a wide range of specialties agree: By all evidence, we are a well-hydrated nation. Furthermore, they say, the current infatuation with water as an all-purpose health potion ; tonic for the skin, key to weight loss ; is a blend of fashion and fiction and very little science.

Tap water is fine so long as it doesn't have fluoride. In Sacramento they just started pouring tons of that **** into the water supply. It is sooooo bad to ingest. Brita filters, etc don't filter fluoride out either.

it depends for me...

some days i am thirstier. i drink more water. maybe i did alot chores that day or exercised.
some days i may have been more sedentary. i drink less.

i like bottle water more than tap, because the rusty pipes here at our complex makes the water smell.

I LOVE FIJI bottle water. way delicious.

yeah.
maybe it is psychological, i love that pretty square bottle i drink it from. makes me think it is more tasty.

Fluoride, more specifically hexafluorosilicic acid (H2SiF6) and its salt sodium hexafluorosilicate (Na2SiF6) probably in the US (wikipedia). Chlorine isn't good for you either, but fluoride is really really bad. I haven't looked into chlorine really. But basically, they are adding fluoride to combat tooth decay in children. First off, F- doesn't really do that much topically on teeth, so there is no way in hell it will do anything when ingested. Secondly, the reason kids teeth are rotting is cuz they are eating too much sugar and high fructose corn syrup, which, in turn, is making them fat. Food companies spend just as much money marketing as drug companies to do things like keep Pepsi and Gatorade on elementary school campuses.

I was trying to point out that some foods contain more water than others.
It's true that if you eat "the right foods" you don't need to drink much water. When I was younger I ate tons of fruits and meats and drank very little. As I've grown older and less hungry, I find myself drinking more water and eating less. I may not eat crackers all day but it's difficult to get enough water for my body so that I don't feel thirsty without drinking loads of water.

Of course, like the article points out, it depends on how active you are. If you're running an hour a day, you're going to need more water than someone who isn't. That's why I drink 2L per day.

Furthermore, as a rule: because food varies in water composition and water is water and varies very little it's safer to go with the "amount of water per day" than otherwise.

Of course different foods contain different amounts of water. Isn`t that obvious?

Does this mean you don't go down on women either, for fear of people having fucked there before? The tap down here is abysmal, especially since we just had a boil water advisory for 10 days after there was an ecoli contamination in the water table.
