Don't really see the point in having tons of cash in the wallet, just seems to be too conspicuous for no reason. I'd feel awkward if someone glanced at my wallet when I was paying and I had $500-1k+ there. I also hate that my wallet becomes so thick with so much cash in it, I find it very uncomfortable in pocket. Not to mention pickpocket risk..

I tend to shoot to keep a few of each bill ($1,5,10,20) to make it easy when paying for taxis and for tips. Also at inexpensive to mid priced restaurants I like to be able to have enough cash to cover the bill so I don't have to wait for them to ring up the card if the service is slow.

Since most <10 dollar items are typically foods/coffee/etc. then actually I find plastic faster than cash. Not having to sign means it's swipe & go whereas with cash, you end up waiting for change and have a pocket of coins. Mind you, the US is far better with using paper money. I can have close to 10 bucks in freaking coins in Canada.

Never more than 100 unless I'm going shopping. I hate using cards so I always use cash also.

I don't know why, but I feel better knowing that.

In my young, dumb and involved with illicit activities days, I'd carry around $1500-2000. For no damn reason at all.

These days, usually $20-40

none.

and i'm only 19, so i do more stuff on a day-to-day basis that would require tipping/spare cash, yet i still don't carry any.

i have a nice wallet from a friend of mine bought specifically because i was complaining about not having somethign to hold cash in, now i don't even use it. i use a j.fold card carrier, with my drivers license, school ID, gym card, credit card, debit card, and sams club card.

On a day to day basis, about £20-30, made for small purchases: newspaper, magazines, food etc. This is predominantly because a lot of small shops and cafes still charge for using a card, or don't have the facilities for them.

I wish the UK had smaller notes though, I hate having to carry around a load of change in my pocket.
