  • 1 dozen ties (buy them in thrifts stores for pennies)(quiet patterns & muted colours)
  • 2 pair of black balmorals so you can rotate each day (suggest Allen Edmonds Park Avenue or equiv.)
With care, you'll have all the options you'll ever need through school and into your first years of work. None of these items has to be expensive.
Take good care of your clothes and they will last. Use the sport jackets for activities outside the courtroom.

My addition to that list is three pairs of wool gabardine trousers (charcoal, medium gray, tan) to go along with the sport jackets or just to wear without a jacket for a casual look.

Thank you all. I've already taken notes, and I"m gonna start planning to get what I need.

As it is, I have like five pairs of black pants because I thought they worked with my three-button black Macy's blazer. They don't. What can I wear the black pants with(i.e. does it need a blazer?) and what can I wear the black blazer with?

Thank you.

Bad news, I'm afraid. You can maybe wear the black pants with a grey sportscoat. Grey pants are your only option with the black sportscoat.

You are probably a troll, but you do not tell us anything about your life to enable a judgement. You should certainly spend time here just observing threads before making such silly posts.

no, i am not a troll. i just have a good reason to be here.
i have been browsing, and it has been very helpful.
also, the tips posted here, especially by aceface, manoflint, sirgortius, almost everyone have been a great summary of how to get started in having a wardrobe that doesn't suck, etc.

But, to impose on their goodwill a little more, and to prove i'm not trolling(ironically, my honor is tied up in demonstrating my ineptitude), i'm posting a few images. I'm realizing I have a lot more shirts than I thought. Also, I ruined a pair of suede shoes. What should I do?
I'm also using IMGUR because I've noticed that all photobucket images disappear.

Here's my shirts and pants, but I know I have a few more black pants in the laundry, and one pair of Grey pants.

Depends on what kind of work you do. My Minimal list is 3 suits (one navy, one mid gray, one darker gray) with 2 pair of pants each, plus one navy blazer + 2-3 pairs of pants (greys), for each season (F/W, S/S). Add to that around a dozen of dress shirts (white and blue) and 6 to 12 ties, one dozen pair of socks (navy is ok) and 4 pairs of shoes for each season. You won't get prizes on WAYWRN, but you'll survive business!

Not a bad advice. Being a student you might do fine with just navy and charcoal suits. I would add a few more shirts, a linen suit for spring-summer and 5-6 handkerchiefs.
