im not really expecting my shoe size to change that much, as the bone structure is there. Also my body build will never allow me to be "thin". My goal weight, leaving me with approx 10% body fat is somewhere around 240.

Are you over 7'? With a drop of 400 to 249 lbs you will also probably drop 2 shoe sizes. Feet can carry a lot of fat. lefty

I think you need something in a dark brown. You have chili and "light red brown", but those are not as conservative or as versatile as dark brown. After dark brown, I'd consider a burgundy shoe.

Keep it up man. I just lost 55 pounds in the last 6 months, just stay focused and do something everyday to help towards your goal and you will get there!

is fat really carried that much on the feet? I can't imagine changing 2 shoes sizes for any reason. That's a huge difference.

Good luck with it man. I've goon from 321 to 263 in three months. Stay focused and you will reach your goal.

I don't wish to disagree with the OP, but after a certain size the body has to start storing fat wherever it can. The feet are not immune to this. I say 2 sizes as that's what a friend went down after a loss of about 200 lbs.

I wish him well, but I would stop buying shoes and clothes until he's maintained his goal weight for a good 6 months or so.

I think 5 pairs is definately sufficient for a rotation. I admire you for taking charge and starting a strict program. Good luck with it - I wish I could bring myself to stick with anything [IMG]

If you are heavy, the shoes wear in. So new/ recrafted ones will be more comfortable?!

5 sounds like enough, I have 10 or so going right now but I would love to find more boots to work into the mix.

Shoe rotations are like baseball teams. In this day and age, you need five starters (go-to shoes) with a versatile bullpen (casual, driving mocs, boat shoes, you name it) and a good closer (special occasions only, i.e. formal patent shoes).

    Well said.

Ideally five pair of office shoes and two pair of casuals that can go to the office, plus evening shoes and whatever sport shoes you need to fill out. But nothing until you've stabilized your weight.

I've been a pretty constant weight for decades - 145 or so - and I wear an 11 now whereas twenty years ago I wore a 9. That's two sizes without weight fluctuation. In some lasts - Edward Greens - I take 11.5.

Can't tell you why but it's a fact.

BTW, shoes I've worn continually seem to have grown with the feet and still fit, not from 9 to 11 but certainly from 10.

279 in rotation? Rotation meaning the shoes are being worn?
