A neglected fingernail always ends up ruining my favorite necktie. I usually end up self-manicuring because by the time I notice that my nails need tending to, I can't bear to put it off. But truthfully, tending to one's own nails really is more trouble than it's worth. I should really just get into the practice of going to the salon on a regular schedule. I don't feel any less masculine in a nail salon, but I do sometimes feel like a bit of a interloper.

Do you guys usually tag along with your better halves, or go stag?

Stag. I'd actually feel a lot more homosexual if I went on a "let's get our nails done-date" than just alone. Like the stereotype that girls always have gay best friends. Not that I give a **** if anyway looks at me like I'm gay, I guess I'm just more comfortable doing it on my own.

I don't make a habit of going to the nail salon, due to budget not because I don't enjoy it, but i do try to keep good care of my nails at home with the occasional pro job. I find that I can make my nails look better than some of the cheaper places near by, but going to a real salon is a treat. The massage and skin treatments are also great, and my hands always feel and look amazing.

I actually just got a manicure last week at a salon a few hours away while my fiancee was having a manicure, pedicure, massage, and facial (anniversary present). It's certainly an experience worth the cost.

I clip my own nails with nail clippers; the kind you get a Walgreen's for $1.99. It takes all of 2-3 minutes. My father always has a manicure, even when he is visiting out here (in SF). I had to tell him the pretty Asian manicurist isn't really a woman; "real" Asian women don't have breasts that big (or adam's apples).

Everytime I goto a gala or banquet I get a manicure, but no shine or anything, just clean things up. They do not remove my callused palms

the best part is the hand/arm massage

A good manicure is a real treat. Mostly, though, I do my own nails. I use Burt's Beeswax Cuticle creme or the Kiehl's cuticle cream daily to keep my hands looking good. They work wonders.

I haven't been since I saw something on CNN about 2 years ago about staph-like infections which leave scars on your legs. The whirlpool tubs are difficult to clean properly between customers (nasty stuff gets stuck in the drain screen).

Getting your cuticles cut just makes them grow faster, so what's the point?

The same reason I cut my hair, sleep, eat, ********. Doing it only wants you to do it again, so what's the point?
