I decided to run an 8 week back squat and a 10 week deadlift periodization program

Current max lift:
385lbs high bar back squat
345lbs conventional hook grip dead lift.

Deadlift doesn't strain my elbow tendons like snatches and C&J's do at the moment so I'm going to focus on improving my DL for now until my forearms stop hurting.

~7 miles riding to and from a real live, in-person work event at Spark Social in Mission Bay this evening. I was super draggy yesterday morning after I'd had my coffee, so I decided to do one of the neuromuscular strength workouts on SYSTM. It totally worked to get me energized for the day, but I have been sore all day today. The bike ride helped loosen everything up.

Still kinda sore from Wednesday morning's strength workout which is a bit surprising since I didn't struggle at all to complete it. Anyway, ~16 "miles" this morning on the trainer.

I did 6.3 miles yesterday at 7:14/mile pace. Temps were just about freezing, but it always amazes me how much better my pace is if I run after I've been up for a few hours rather than 10 minutes after rolling out of bed.

I was planning on getting up early and running to the park this morning to do some hill repeats but slept later than I intended and once I did get up, temps were in the teens so I stayed in. I guess it's time to dig out the rest of my cold weather running gear...

I'm kind of the same way. If I go to the gym before lunch, I normally suck at my lifts. My body just isn't firing yet. I can get much better workouts after 2pm.

Feeling a little balloon-y with the advent of Thanksgiving and the holidays. What is the best running apparel company these days, especially if I want to lean toward breathable cold-weather gear? I'm a bit overwhelmed with the panoply of choices from Brooks and Adidas to Nike LuluLemon, etc. I feel as though I'm missing one that might stand above the others.

10.3 miles yesterday morning at an easy 9:02/mile pace and then another 10.3 miles (it was dumb luck that it was the same distance as yesterday) this rainy Thanksgiving morning at a bit more of a brisk pace - 8:15/mile. A few days ago, the forecast was saying temps would be in the low 30s today with a bunch of snow but it was around 42° so just rain today. I’d rather run in snow than rain this time of year, but we’ve got to drive to the in-laws later today so I guess I shouldn’t complain too much.

I’ve heard really good things about LuluLemon’s running gear but haven’t tried it. I don’t really care for shorts from Tracksmith but I love their “Turnover Tights” for winter running - very warm and very soft and they don’t ride up or sag down during the runs. I haven’t tried their winter running shirts but I just now ordered another pair of the tights and decided to add a “Downeaster” merino wool running shirt to the order.

The rest of my winter running shirts are Smartwool (and some cheap Smartwool knockoffs) base layer shirts that I got off of STP. They usually breath pretty well. If it’s rainy or drizzly, I add a waterproof shell from Brooks. It’s not really all that breathable, but at least I can unzip it mid run and let some heat out if I need to.
