I love running in the cold and my performance is substantially better. 32, sunny, light wind — wore half tights and a tank top.

18 miles at 7:38/mi @ 143bpm. First half at my base pace and second half progressive splits. Feeling really good — not tired or sore at all. Things are looking up, knock on wood.

That’s awesome DH. Glad you’re getting back to 100%.

Thanks guys. Just putting in the miles week by week and staying cautiously optimistic.

@sugarbutch. I’m pretty large for a distance runner (5’11” 190lbs) and I think all that extra weight makes me run hotter.
I mean, sure, but the first couple of miles must be...brisk. :)

4.5 at 8:05 pace. Migraine is gone but body is still pretty fatigued so no longer than just a loop around town. 40F in the sun but wind brought it down like 15 degrees. My knees were numb by the end of the run ha.

6 miles of cross country terrain running as the sweeper on the course. Only like 15 people total so a super small event but fun to get out there. This morning we had frozen fog so it made the run chilly and slippery in some sections.

You guys who toggle between trail and road, Saucony came out with a cool option. If you do buy, make sure you use Rakuten as they often have a nice extra discount on Saucony shoes:

A chill 7.5 mi ride with my just-turned-fourteen son. Basically rode up one of the big hill trails and then back down to Rodeo Beach. He is behind on homework, but I made the executive decision that he (and I) would get more out of the afternoon this way. We got to talk about a wide range of subjects and I got to be the supportive, encouraging dad instead of the nagging, frustrated dad. ?

If anyone missed this, the half marathon world record was demolished yesterday (57:32 is an average pace of 4:23/mile or 2:44/km).

worth noting that Kandie ran in the new adizero adios pro. which has 39mm of foam and 5 carbon rods that are intended to mimic the metatarsal bones in your foot. shoe wars are on.

I would still argue that 99.9% of all runners are better off using a more neutral shoe and improving their mechanics before worrying about the performance of the soles of their shoes.

and here i am trying to increase my strength and improve my form like a schmuck.
