Hey @Michigan Planner , I gotta admit, my OCD always kick in when I read your run distances. I almost always try and round out my runs to the nearest half mile...so if it’s 6.75, I go to 7. If 6.25, I run to 6.5.

Def not your problem. Just my personal running OCD tick.

I hear ya. I make sure to run a bit extra to round up to whole miles if I am within about 0.10 - 0.15 miles, beyond that I don't bother.

My neighbors and I all have circular driveways and sometimes I'll do an extra lap through a few of our driveways to get up to that whole mile. I'm sure if they looked out their windows early in the morning they'd wonder what on earth I was doing.

3.1 miles with the dogs. The air quality was really bad (around 170) this morning, but fortunately the wind direction changed. The AQI is now 19. Temps in the mid 70s.

Just about to head out on the bike, but caught a smoky whiff, so I checked the AQI. Hovering around 100. Fwark.

And a bit later... We need a good storm to come through.

Haven’t run in 10 days as have been feeling pretty rubbish due to a cold virus. This has thrown my 10 week plan right out of the window. Interestingly, not running every lunchtime and at the weekend has freed up loads of time to get stuff done around the house, clearing out old clothes for sale etc. Would rather be running but it’s shocked me how much more time I have now!

7.4 miles this morning at a slower 8:52/mile pace. The temps were in the 40s and there was a lot more fog out there than I was expecting to see. Had I known it was going to be foggy I would have ran around a couple of the small lakes here - I always enjoy running in those particular neighborhoods in the fall and the fog.

7 miles last night in the dark. I am surprised there have been more people out lately and without any reflective gear or lights. This includes runners, walkers, and families with little kids. It's nuts.

I'm a morning runner and I'm always amazed at the number of people who run or bike in the dark wearing all black clothes with no lights or reflectors, especially on roads with a fair amount of traffic. I think that kind of behavior is even more dangerous in the evening when there's more traffic and statistically more vehicle/pedestrian and vehicle/cyclist accidents.

I work in planning and a friend of mine is an avid biker and a non-motorized transportation planner at a partner organization. A couple years ago he was put in charge of a safety campaign and he came up with one of the best taglines I've ever seen in the usually very staid world of local government marketing:

6 miles last night with the club at a 10 minute pace. few new people out so played escort to make sure they didn't get lost on the route. 1 mile home after the post-run beers.

It was hurling it down with rain this morning, so I waited until the afternoon. It also helps that my legs are (finally) not hurting any more after my cross-country laps. I really am getting old.

Anyway, did my head of the island and back route (13.2km / 8 1/4 miles) at my new long run pace (around 5:15/km or 8:27/mile for this distance) and at 1:09:33, that was pretty much dead on. I wasn't feeling at all good at the start, but after about 3km, I felt like I was finally running freely for the first time in ages.

I'm really regretting not biting the bullet and getting a Wahoo earlier this year. By the time the smoke clears, I will have lost so much fitness, just like last year. ?
