10.1 miles this morning at an 8:47/mile pace. Temps in the 70s and humidity around 90%. I believe we're at 10 consecutive days of 90+ temps, two more days and we'll break our record set 60 some years ago.

Another hot, sweaty, gross 10 miles this morning. I worked 10 800m intervals in there and finished with a pace of 8:50/mile, including walking for about a tenth of a mile to cool down after each of the intervals.

For the intervals themselves I averaged about 3:40. I've found that running the intervals on the streets the past couple of weeks instead of the track adds about 15-20 seconds onto my pace.

same, the local track here has been closed since march. i find it much harder to gauge my pace and effort when i don't have the usual markings.

6.2 today. Faster than where I was this time last year so that's good. It's hot and humid now. Four weeks ago when I was running longer and faster it was also substantially cooler thanks to a low-pressure system. I probably walked a mile all told. I went a route that I've had a mental roadblock about being able to get up over this one hill at at about mile 2.5 (it is the exit point of a valley and because it's on Georgia's Path Network of trails they make it really winding so you don't exert yourself too much as a walker). I think because I was so in my head about getting over the hill I did not get over the hill.

Yeah, it was humid.

So good... Mount Margaret and Frog Pond Trails. Edit to add, total was 7 miles (at around 8000’ with not too much climbing). Temps in the mid 70s with 10% humidity.

LOL same for me tonight

4 mile warm up
40 minutes strength training with two friend from my club
1 mile drag myself home

We went out right after a storm thinking it would have cooled off but the humidity was so high I had soaked through my shirt and shorts by the time we started the workout.

I looked like I jumped into the Hudson River, which you also never want to step foot in.

6mi at 7:55/mi with 148bpm.

Real feel of 100f during the run. My shorts, socks, and shoes were so soaked you’d have thought I jumped in the river.

For the record, you never want to jump into the Ohio.

Wait, where are you that you can jump into the Ohio River?

Last week there would have been our local Canada Day Mile race in town. Of course it didn't happen. For one reason or another I couldn't do my solo version then, but I did it this morning at 6:30am. This was the same route as I do my sprint training on; it's the one totally flat bit of accessible road here. I did some warm up exercises and then jogged over to the start.

And then I stood around nervously for a few minutes to give myself that real race feeling...

Then, go!

Immediately I felt a lot better than when I did my disappointing 5k TT (20:24) on Sunday. When I made the turn, however, I felt I was slowing and was feeling some tightness in my right hamstring, so I just tried to keep the same pace rather than straining to go even faster. By the end I had given up on a good time, but I stopped the clock on 5:41, which was pretty good - and under the 5:45 I had set myself. It's much more in line with the time I would expect given the 8k TT I ran back in May (31:51) rather then the 5k. It's also a hell of a lot better than the last time I did a Mile TT back in early May (6:03).

I jogged most of the way back and then went for a refreshing swim in the lake before heading home for breakfast.

Im jealous.

(Seriously there's no flat land here. Yes Boulder has worse hills but the continual heat humidity and hills in Atlanta is its own torture).

Glad you were able to somewhat recreate that raceday experience. The mindset is so important that for about a week after each race i keep thinking this is the year ill do a marathon or crack X time.... also jealous of being able to take a cooling dip.

Did 4.5 miles today as part of my 5 on 2 off trial. Legs don't feel bad but my back is stiff as hell. (Probably not running related but it stiffened during the run).
