How many miles did you run today?

4 miles this morning in temps below freezing. This first week of sub 30º has been brutal for my motivation... it's always like that when we get our first stretch of cold weather, but it just came earlier than normal this year. I think it's time to dig out the long sleeve shirts and fall/winter running gear. :(

Four miles with the dogs. I ran at marathon/distance race pace (I actually use my current half marathon pace) except for the third mile, which was at tempo pace (8:06).

Earlier in the day, I bouldered outside up on Flagstaff Mountain, and sent my first new V5 in at least ten years. So today was a good day...

I tried bouldering for the first time this week while my daughter was at her rock climbing class. I sucked! No matter what route I tried, I just couldn't get going. To make it worse/more depressing, my daughter's friend saw me struggling so this 9-year-old came over to try and give me an impromptu lesson and she proceeded to scramble up and completely over the wall in the time it took me to get up about 3'. lol

I agreed to take my daughter to the climbing gym for a little bit tomorrow afternoon so she can get some extra practice in outside of class. I'll have to give the bouldering another try then. We're going to go in the middle of the day during the Michigan/Michigan State game so hopefully it's not too busy and there won't be too many people there to watch me struggle!

Here's my daughter (in the center) working her way up the top of that yellow route. This was after a particularly difficult section of the route about half way up with a bunch of side holds but she eventually made it to the top!

7 miles last night.

MP - If I learned anything from the climbing gym it is that most of those people do not care about football!

You're probably right but you'd be surprised how empty just about every grocery store, gym, movie theatre, non-bar restaurant, etc. gets during a Michigan or Michigan State game in this area, especially when both teams are ranked.

It reminds me the time my dad and I were driving down to my aunt's in Orlando and stopped in Gainesville for gas and lunch on a Saturday afternoon about 25 years ago. The city was a ghost town and we couldn't figure out where everybody was. We got into a Bob Evans around 1:00 (my dad's generic road trip restaurant of choice) and there were maybe two or three other customers in there and the entire staff was huddled around a little TV and we realized that they were watching the Florida/FSU game that was up in Tallahassee that year. Everybody that was stayed in Gainesville was probably hidden away at home or at local bars watching the game as well.

I’m pretty sure that the gyms and outdoor climbing areas here are just as packed during Buffs games.

Six easy miles with the dogs, mostly after sunset.

A couple 1.5 milers earlier this week, 3.2 miles yesterday, and 8.75 today (spread over more than one run, getting extra mileage in during halftime).

4.6 miles with the dogs during my son’s nap. Having both parents working from home makes sneaking out for workouts easier...
