3 easy miles this morning. Rode bikes with my boys to their day camp and ran from there. Maybe another three on the bicycle? It's a nice warm-up and cool-down for the run.

I ran for 6 miles today. I have been running on a treadmill every day for the past few weeks and today was my first outdoor run in a long time. It felt a lot better to run outdoors so I think Im going to do that more often. I plan on beating my distance tomorrow for sure.

You could say that the madness is infectious around here... My wife has done solo Race Across America twice, so I've got a lot of catching up to do.

She has my deepest respect. My favourite athlete in the world was Jure Robič (RIP)...

7 miles today. First time in a few weeks that it's felt "ok" (or about as miserable as normal). Can only guess the monsoon like humidity had a much greater affect on me than I was willing to admit.

6.3 miles this morning

I ran five miles at my marathon pace and then did six 20 second intervals with two minutes of rest between them. Usually my "rest" between intervals is walking for half of the rest and then a slow jog. Today for some reason I decided I would do 30 lunges between each interval as well. Holy crap did that hurt! I don't know what I was thinking. I guess it just goes to show I need to step up my cross training or something. I must not be in as good of shape as I thought!

6.5 miles this morning. I should do more crosstraining but I love my sleep in rest days too much.

First day back after a week and a half rest - 3.1 this morning, finished in under 26 minutes. My previous PB at a competitive 5K was 28 minutes flat, and although that was almost 2 years ago it felt good to smash that time today.

Joining a running group this evening. Only have 2.5 mile and 4.5 mile route options. I guess I will run with them then run more. Should be interesting.

Yeah, it's fun, although better on the travelogue than the arguments about barefoot running, which are still raging... I do a bit of barefoot running to keep my technique good, and I run my short races in NB minimal shoes, but in my experience, running longer races barefoot is a recipe for all kinds of unpleasant blisters, cuts and what have you. Basically, you have to be entirely committed to barefoot running and do nothing else so the soles of your feet become like iron, even if you technique is good.

10k (6 miles) tempo today (in shoes!).
