There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

With the morning sunrise, 6 miles. Usually, I am a slacker and avoid "Piety Hill". But, today, I did the right thing.

Someone mounted a funhouse mirror on a fence along yesterday's route

6.5 miles today. Went at a slower pace and it felt better. Less impact!

I ran a quarter mile yesterday evening, after swimming, but before throwing a discus for the first time in many, many years. The quarter mile was a serious of sprints on the football field at the school where my tri club does swim workouts. I ran in my Vibrams (something I have tried to do for several years). I did okay, I'm certainly not fast, but man am I sore today!

The other night I was watching a documentary on Mackinac Island in the winter. My new goal is to run across the roughly 3 mile ice bridge that forms during (most) winters between St. Ignace and the Island. This may be one of the stupidest ideas I've ever had and I may never actually go through with it, but it sounds interesting in my head.

Second experience with faster intervals. 4x5min "fast," (relative term compared to others here) with 2min slow in between. Managed to keep the fast intervals between 5:10-5:30 which I'm pretty happy with. 8x2 was much worse.

It doesn't sound that stupid to me. Just make sure you have those studded running shoes!

Got in another 8.2 miles today with no aches or pains. I am loving the 70s here in Ohio with hardly any humidity. Back to Nashville tomorrow where my times will be much slower.

4.5 miles this morning in absolutely perfect running weather: Low 50s, no wind, no humidity, and the sun just starting to rise. :slayer:

Last year somebody here posted up a link about using hex head sheet metal screws in the bottoms of your shoes so that's what I did this past winter and they worked pretty well. However, for 100% snow and ice, I may have to go with one of those shoes made specifically for the conditions.

Only two miles this morning, but they included half a mile of 100m strides. I think I may have stretched for almost as long as I ran...

Really loving my new Newton Gravity shoes. I have worn them for the past week and a half. The new design uses 5 lugs. More "action-reaction" science??? For me, the lightness of the shoe and the "spring", not softness, encourages me to keep going.

Twas a gorgeous morning. 46 degrees. No wind. Blue sky. Sunrise. Pure Michigan
    6 miles.

By the bye, here is a stretch that has been beneficial to my "wretched" hip problem:

I always see Newtons but have never given them a shot. I favor my NB 890 as I can snag them for $50 on Amazon if I keep an eye out. Though the v4 is a redesigned shoe.

Today I got in 9.5 miles with roughly 1500' of climb. It was two loops on the trails and hot at 89* with some humidity to boot. Realized running with a Buff on keeps my body too warm so I have to ditch a headband while it is warm out and have something around to dab the sweat off instead.

Here is a picture of my favorite spot on the trail. The blur is due to the phone pic from inside a bag

12 through the Mission and by the bay. Somehow beat my PR for 5k in the middle of it.

I just remembered: While running in Mission Bay this afternoon, one of those duck boats pulled up alongside me. I realized that everyone in the boat was looking at me, so I waved, eliciting a big laugh. Only then did I realize that the driver was blasting the beginning of "Eye of the Tiger". I chuckled.
