5 miles in the cold. ripped some heattech tights on a rusty fence in queens.
4 miles this morning back home in Indiana. I'll get 2-3 more this evening when I go for a much-needed workout at the gym.
Six miles in Ice Joggers this morning. Black ice everywhere.
Sam, here's your opportunity to start preparing for Buenos Aires marathon TV coverage: "Mi nombre es Sergio, y yo soy un Americano que corre con con velocidad y estilo."
ran an impromptu 5k tonight in 17:23, off a 6:13 first mile.
Felt pretty good about a half mile into my run, so i started gradually picking up the pace then after about a mile decided to turn it into a hard 5k because i havent really done any speedwork lately. Ran the second and third miles in 5:21 and 5:18.
Ran 5 easy miles after that as a cool down.
6 miles. Temperature a balmy 35. i'll take it. Lots of icy patches. There's something inspiring about running on frozen snow and hearing the "crunch, crunch, crunch" of the football. On a day like today, wearing SmartWool compression socks provided sufficient leg protection.
Those basically just long, tight smartwool socks? I could see how those with a pair of half-tights would be good for cold days for me (i find half tights are great for me when its in the 30s to low 40s)
I swear by smartwool stuff though, wouldnt think of using any non-merino based socks for running. I have a pair of smartwool armwarmers too, which are great in certain conditions.
Six miles in the rain and a strength workout at the Y.
I took my ass down to the indoor track yesterday morning.
I can run up to 1 mile without walking. It was a struggle and I felt a faint suggestion of nausea briefly afterwards but I think that's just my body trying to deal with something it's not used to.
6 miles ... treadmill, inclined 10%
..still battling cold symptoms... thought of quitting first at the 4 mile mark, then 5
Somehow convinced myself to continue, told myself if I didn't finish I'd go into no kop mode for 30 days
6 miles late this afternoon. Not a good run, but I got it done.
They are the Smartwool compression socks--probably intended for recovery--but work well for leg warmth on these cold mornings.
4.5 miles this morning--in the fog--listening to the the Bach b minor Mass. Happy New Year to all.
