Also - big news - I'm in for the 2012 Western States 100. Scared out of my mind but in a good way. 194 days till the start.

around a park trail, nice and frosty. Had to keep her leashed though, there were ducks out on the frozen pond, not so sure how frozen.

Ive been working on speed as of late, improved my 5K time significantly. I need a long run today, but I have a cold and I dont want to be laid out for weeks with lung issues. Ill likely do a long dreadmill run or just wing a 10+ run outside if it gets above freezing.

weird track workout today, wasn't sure I was going to run it, but went with it:

    2 x 1600 at 7:00 pace, (1:30 recovery between)
30 minutes at 8:00 pace (was supposed to run them 8:45 pace but was impatient)
    2 x 1600 at 7:00 pace (1:30 recovery)

I have to admit, the last 1600 had some distress but I finished strong.

Add the run to and from the track, and it was roughly 9.5 miles today.

    33 miles since Sunday.

Wed-Thurs will certainly be lower-volume, and Fri-Sat-Sun will be traveling with a tight itinerary, I may run Friday morning but that's the last free time I'll have before Monday morning.

    4. Today I didn't look at my pace and just ran. This was the result:

    1 9'02"/mi
    2 8'22"/mi
    3 8'47"/mi
    4 8'20"/mi

This transition to the forefoot has been kinda laborious. I still feel like it offers me the greatest potential in terms of pace and staying healthy, but it's using parts of my body that just haven't seen this much work in a long time, if ever. Even my back is complaining because my posture is different with this stride.

Ten miles in SHORTS on December 13th, including a couple of tempo miles at 90% effort.

14 miles 1:55, nipples are quite raw, I didnt dress warm enough. I also wore shorts and only a technical tee with a running vest. I paced well, some of the single track was very slick and muddy. I wore kinvara's not trail shoes, so I had very little traction. I saw a total of 0 other runners or bikers today.
I did see a number of dead rodents and a few live blue herons!

Myles - thats so awesome man. Hopefully my day to do WS will come.

Thomas - that workout sounds like a good Half Marathon type workout, and if you didn't feel too ragged at the end then you can probably expect close to 1:30 for the half.

AntiRabbit - Its been cool to watch you get back into fitness after that surgery man. You are completely back. Awesome. Get those nipples body glided up.

I ran 6 tonight with 2 up tempo miles (probably like 5:55 pace). Felt like shit. I have lost a lot of fitness. Still I was f*ckin stoked to run at all!
    Did abs.

Looking forward to racing next month and getting back into shape. Hopefully I'm on the other side of this injury.
