    14mi today...

Is any of you guys focusing more on strength workouts during the off-season by the way? Would be curious to see what kind of workout routine you are using...

pretty consistent week so far running around 6 miles every morning. Today ran about 5.5 with the middle three @ 6:37 pace. Finally starting to feel decent after several down months.

cant decide to do a hill workout (repeats), or dreadmill.
Its beautiful out, but my calf is in bad shape for somereason and I want to be able to do a long run this weekend.

I never run much over 1 mile, but it's up a long steep uphill so it takes around 20 minutes. I then walk down the hill. I've been doing that for oh 10 years now, and I think it's way healthier on the joints than you guys doing hour + runs smashing your legs on flat surfaces.

My two cents. Rest the calf. I tore my calf 20 years ago and tried to train through it. Now every one in a while it will tighten up on me and if I'm smart I back off training for a few days and I'm good. When I try to run through it I usually end up having to miss a lot more time (i.e. weeks/months).

+1. antirabbit, I'm no expert in these matters at all, but the first thought that came to my mind when I read your post was that you may want to simply rest today, particularly since you want to do a long run over the weekend. Resting today makes sense to me.

an easy 5 today and a great yoga session

Sam, my running gurus are telling me the same thing--get a good taper. But tapering messes with your mind, you know? It's tough. I will write up a race report about NYC for all. If I'm still in one piece :D

Well, I did the hill repeats, calf actually feels better, the rest of my legs are jello.
Total of 6 miles, 2.5 were either up or down hill.
I will rest tomorrow and see how I feel on Sunday. I think these higher intensity short interval sessions are very valuable to getting my fitness back and building back the muscle groups.

Haven't had much time for SF or running the last two weeks, but I appreciate the responses from morning runners regarding breakfast/coffee.

1.79mi this morning with a small dog who hasn't run in a while. Dropped her off, and went back out for another 1.55.
